What this site collects

This site uses Google Analytics to understand traffic — which pages get visited, roughly where from, and what device or browser was used. That's standard web analytics, delivered through cookies or similar technology, and it doesn't identify you personally. You can block it with a browser extension or by disabling cookies without losing any functionality on this site.

Nothing else on this site collects data automatically. There's no user account system, no server-side form processing, and no tracking beyond that one analytics tag.

The diagnostic tool

The interactive diagnostic on /diagnostic.html runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are used to calculate a result on the page and are never transmitted anywhere, stored, or logged — that's true whether or not you go on to email me the results. If you click through to email your numbers, that email is sent from your own email client, the same as any other email you write.

When you email me

Every "start here" or "send this" button on this site opens a mailto link — it hands off to your own email app. I don't see anything you write until you actually send it, and this site's server never touches it. Whatever you send me (numbers, a description of what you want automated, contact details) is used only to respond to you and, if we move forward, to scope and deliver that work. I don't sell it, rent it, or share it with third parties, except where the work itself requires it and you've explicitly authorized it — for example, if a project requires access to one of your own systems.

Third-party links

This site links out to a few other places I run or use: my Substack newsletter, FamRight, and my Instagram. Each of those is its own product or service with its own privacy practices — this policy only covers mtipsey.com. If you subscribe to the newsletter, that signup and any subsequent emails are handled by Substack under their own privacy policy.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects or does with it changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
